Escrow and dispute resolution are the mechanisms that separate trustworthy darknet marketplaces from outright fraud platforms. TorZon Market's dispute system is designed to protect buyers from non-delivery and misrepresentation while providing vendors with a fair process for contesting unjustified claims.
The Escrow Model
When a buyer places an order on TorZon Market, their payment is held in escrow by the platform rather than released directly to the vendor. The funds remain in escrow until the buyer confirms receipt and satisfaction with the order, or until the defined escrow window expires. This structure ensures that vendors are incentivised to fulfil orders correctly, since payment depends on the buyer's confirmation.
Initiating a Dispute
If an order does not arrive, arrives damaged, or differs significantly from its description, the buyer can open a dispute before the escrow auto-finalises. The dispute window opens after the maximum expected delivery time stated in the vendor's listing and remains available for a defined period. Once a dispute is opened, the escrow funds are locked and cannot be released without moderator review.
The Resolution Process
After a dispute is opened, both the buyer and vendor are given a period to submit evidence. Buyers typically provide tracking information (or lack thereof), photographs of received items, and a clear description of the issue. Vendors provide tracking data, proof of postage, and any communications with the buyer. A platform moderator reviews the submitted evidence and makes a binding determination, either releasing funds to the buyer, releasing them to the vendor, or splitting them based on partial fault.
Multi-Signature Escrow
For higher-value transactions, TorZon Market supports multi-signature (multisig) escrow using cryptocurrency's native scripting capabilities. In a 2-of-3 multisig arrangement, three parties — the buyer, vendor, and market — each hold one key, and any two must agree to release funds. This structure means that even if the platform were compromised, funds could not be released without cooperation from either the buyer or vendor.
A well-functioning dispute system is a core trust signal for any marketplace. TorZon Market's layered approach, combining standard escrow with optional multisig and moderator review, provides meaningful protections across a range of transaction types and dispute scenarios.
